North Cross and St Michaels
Two class coaches are squaring off this Friday in Fredricksburg when North Cross travels to play the St Michaels Warriors. Both teams are coming off state championships last year in the VISAA (Virginia Independent School Football).
St Michaels defeated Roanoke Catholic 22-18 in the final seconds and North Cross bested Blue Ridge 42-6. Both schools have about 20 players on their rosters this season which can provide its challenges. That’s an all time high for St Michaels. Warriors Head Coach Hugh Brown remarked, “We are one ankle away from being a position down.” That is the life of private school football. You play both ways, some never leave the field.
“This game will be a contrast in styles – St. Michaels run oriented wing-T offense and North Cross’s spread the field and let it fly approach. You may not want to miss it.
