Northside @ Cave Spring


Huddle Up

In a great game Friday night, Northside beat Cave Spring for the second time this season. This go ’round the Vikings won 57-55 in a nailbiter as this game went down to the wire. Cave Spring G/F 14 Stark Jones led all scorers with twenty points. G 5 Charlie Urgo pitched in fifteen for the Knights as well. Northside was very balanced led by G/F 10 Ayrion Journiette with thirteen points. Both G/F 11 Terrance Cole and G/F 23 Jamison Foley ptiched in with ten points apiece.

The Cave Spring Knights rallied from behind late in the fourth quarter to beat Northside 58-55. Cave G/F 10 Zada Porter and G/F 20 Katie Carroll led all scorers with seventeen points each. G/F 30 Ava Hibbs knocked down ten. For the Vikings, who led throughout, G/F 11 Samantha Johnson had thirteen points. G 12 Rianna Saunders scored eleven, G/F 24 Alex Wawern finished with ten, G 23 Tamiyah Gates had seven, F 25 Arianna Abediyi had six, and F 32 Jasmine Kidd notched five.

January 29, 2021 – Girls Basketball

Cave Spring 58 – Northside 55

The Patrick Henry Girls beat Franklin County 61-25 on Saturday afternoon. The Patriots were led by JMU bound (Lacrosse) F 22 Savannah Derey with eighteen points. Followed closely by G 10 Jada Cook with seventeen, G 25 Sallejah Childress with thirteen and the G 3 Shelby Fiddler with six. Franklin County got ten points from G/F 40 Kameron Copeland, eight from F 33 Jaedyn Jamison, and five from G 32 Tamya Robertson.

Northside @ William Byrd


Huddle Up

The undefeated Northside Vikings traveled to Vinton to take on Blue Ridge District foe William Byrd. Northside started fast and built an early double digit lead. Byrd twice, got it back to single digits, but couldn’t overcome the visitors in the end. Coach Bill Pope’s troops took the night 62-49 led by G/F 10 Ayrion Journiette with eighteen points, and G/F 11 Lawrence Cole with sixteen. The Terriers were led in the scoring department by F/C 34 Jamie Cawley and F 30 Camden Richardson with fifteen and thirteen points respectively.

Cave Spring beat rival Hidden Valley 64-39 Monday night on the Titans home court. Knight G 5 Charlie Urgo had a big night with eighteen points. Sophomore F 14 Stark Jones added seventeen, including a dunk (cover). F 12 Bryce Cooper also had a in game dunk for Cave for those keeping score. The Titans were led by C 14 Manu Singh with eleven points for Hidden Valley.

Carroll County’s girls basketball team did something they haven’t done in awhile- beat Lord Botetourt at home. The Cavaliers from Hillsville knocked off the Lady Cavs of Boteourt 55-35 on Wednesday night. Carroll County was led by G 1 Alyssa Ervin with 20 points, followed by Jaelyn Hagee with 12. LB didn’t have anyone break double figures. Jada Morgan led the Lady Cavs with 8 points.
