Radford beats Glenvar on 4th down TD pass from Clark to Woodard with :10 left

Norman G. Lineburg, Radford, VA – Cutting it about as close as you can, Radford responded to a Glenvar fourth quarter TD and the subsequent 2 point conversion. Glenvar led 24-21 with a little over two minutes left. That was all Radford QB/S 7 Landen Clark and the Bobcats needed, converting a fourth down, 22-yard TD pass to WR/DB 5 Luke Woodard on the goal line with only :10 seconds remaining to keep Radford unbeaten and moving on in the playoffs. Bobcat Head Coach Michael Crist was elated after the nail biter, “We get to a fourth down situation and great players make great plays.

He (QB Landen Clark) did it in the fourth quarter when we needed it the most.” Glenvar had played Radford as tough as anyone has all year. Taking the game to them, running the ball, and working the clock. Sophomore RB 6 Cooper Mullins put the Highlander’s up 25-24 on the 5-yard TD run at the 2:06 mark. Sophomore QB 15 Brody Dawyot rifled a pass to WR 7 Reed Hutchison for the 2-pointer and Glenvar led 27- 24. Coach Crist kept his team focused, “No panic, with two minutes to go, we said let’s go get it.”

From there Clark did his thing, completing four passes on the drive, one to WR/DB 6 Colton Garner-Rollins for 23-yards, and two to WR/LB 18 Max Kanipe for five and thirteen yards, respectively, before the game winner to Woodard. Clark overcame one fourth down with his feet with :48 left motoring 10-yards to keep the Bobcats alive. Three plays later the Senior made this year’s team the third Radford team to make it to 13-0 (1971, 1972, and 2023). Glenvar picked off Clark three times in the game, forcing him to throw it at times when he wasn’t set. “They’re a good ball club. Give Coach Clifford credit, tremendous program… It’s come down to the last play two out of the last three,” Crist said postgame. The Bobcats will now face last year’s state champion, the Graham G-Men at 2pm Saturday in Radford. – Cap’n Crunch
