Catholic beats North Cross 72-69 in battle to the end
North Cross School, Roanoke, VA – Roanoke Catholic came into North Cross’ den and came away with a 72-69 win, their second close win over the Raiders this year. Catholic beat North Cross 70-68 in OT January 19th.
This time around it the Celts used the early ‘three ball’ and balanced scoring from G 0 Jayden Johnson, G 2 Jalen Merchant, and G 5 DeMarcus Brown with 15, 14, and 18 points respectively. G/F 4 A.J. Johnson (7 pts), and 24 Mason Williams (9pts) also made themselves known.
For Cross G 0 Antonio Mack and G 2 Josiah Hines carried the scoring load for the Raiders. Mack dropped 27 to lead all scorers and Hines was good for 22.
A big factor was the foul trouble. G 1 Jaziel Hart. The Sophomore finished with 8 points before fouling out halfway through the final period. F 5 Tristan Lange (5 pts) also fouled out in the fourth.
