Spotswood remains unbeaten in a tough 53-48 win over Patrick Henry

ADAM WARD CLASSIC, Salem High School, Salem, VA – In one of the best games of the day, undefeated (20-0) and #2 in the state in 3A, Spotswood survived a scare from the #10 in the state in 5A, Patrick Henry. This one went down to the wire.

Spotswood moved out to a 16-11 lead on the scoring of six points each by G 4 Camryn Pacheco and G 12 Tyler Sprague. G 1 Moosie Calloway led PH with 4 early on.

PH G 0 Jakolbi Taylor scored 8, two of them ‘three’ pointers to tighten the margin to 26-24 at the break, Spotswood’s favor.

Spotswood took a 36-33 lead into the final quarter. Pacheco added four more, while PH got a lift from G 4 Marcel Murray with five points. Murray had a good offensive night, but his quick hands and feet serve him well on the defensive side of the ball. The Senior held Pacheco to a single bucket in the final quarter. Taylor added 7 and Calloway 6 to tighten the game late. But it was Spotswood’s Sprague who was the difference, finishing with 13 to lead the Trailblazers.

This one was up in the air until the final seconds. Both teams played hard, but Spotswood got the buckets down the stretch to get the hard fought win.
