On today’s show we are talking about last night’s state championship wins by two teams in Crunchland. Northside beat Lake Taylor (#1 ranked in class 3A) 73-58 in the class 3A boys nightcap at the State Championships at VCU’s Siegel Center. Prior to that it was Liberty Christian Academy capping off an undefeated season with a tight 44-43 win over Meridian for the class 3A girls State Championship. The boys and girls 4A champs were also crowned last night. The night before last, another Crunch team, Auburn lost a late lead to fall to Lancaster 65-59 (#1 ranked in class 1A). The balance of the class 1A and 2A boys and girls finals were also played Thursday. in the 2A boys final John Marshall beat Vriginia High 89-32. For the girls it was Central Wise over John Marshall 58-41 in 2A, and Eastside knocking off Bruton 55-50 in 1A. The biggest schools, 5A and 6A will play today. For the boys it will be Woodside vs LC Bird in 5A and South Lakes vs Patriot in 6A. The girls finals in 5A and 6A will be James River-Midlothian vs Princess Anne, and Manchester vs Thomas Dale.
Also on the show today we are thrilled to speak with Northside head basketball coach Bill Pope. We be talking with Coach Pope about his big win over Lake Taylor last night in the 3A State Championship and this year’s Viking team.
