Lady Highlanders outpace James River 3-1 in Regional Semifinal contest at home

2A Regional Semifinals, Glenvar HS, Roanoke County, VA–
The Highlander ladies soccer team advanced in the VHSL playoffs with a dominant 3-1 win over fellow Three Rivers District foe James River on Friday night at home.
Glenvar Midfielder 2 Giuliana Stanley got the party started for Glenvar working past the defense and beating the James River Goalie 13 Kylie Aaron on a breakaway boot. Glenvar led 1-0 in the first.
Highlander Midfielder Davin Tate made it 2-0 with a strike off her foot in front of the goal near the top of the penalty box a few minutes later to make it 2-0.
Midfielder 1 Campbell Hardin knocked in a ricochet off a corner kick from Tate. That made it 3-0 at the 8:31 mark of the 2nd quarter.
James River would get on the board in the second half on a kick by Midfielder 22 Sophia Martin.
That’s how it would end. Glenvar now will move on to play Appomattox @ 6pm on Tuesday on the neutral site of Smith River Complex in Martinsville.
