Lord Botetourt Rolls in 68-10 win at home against Appomattox County

Lord Botetourt High School, Daleville, VA – Lord Botetourt had their offense rolling Friday night with a 68-10 win over visiting Appomattox County. 

The 1-2 punch of Cavalier RBs 10 Tristian Overbay (10/156, 5TDs) and 0 Quinten Jones (11/179, 3TDs) combined for 8 touchdowns and 335 yards behind a stout offensive line – 63 Ryan Quesenberry, 50 Tyler Butler , 55 Jackson Harless, 54 Gavin Walker, 53 Taygen Sanchez-Huerta, and TE’s 11 Seth Reiter, and 40 Kent Basham.

Botetourt Coach Harless summed it up after the game. “We were able to physically outmatch them, but Appomattox has some extremely talented players.” Botetourt scored thirty five first half points and added thirty three more in the final two quarters. Appomattox drove to make it 7-3 on K 25 Richard Greene’s 24-yard field goal early in the game. It was 28-10 when the Raiders recovered a fumble near midfield, but the Cav defense doused that fire in four straight downs and the Raiders didn’t threaten after that.

Botetourt’s Overbay made some big runs in the game, and at times refused to go down. Jones showed off his open field speed. Appomattox QB 1 Reagan Conroy (14/66,TD) broke off a 63-yard run for a score in the second quarter to provide some fireworks for the Raider faithful, but they needed more scores to keep up with Lord Botetourt on this night.

Lord Botetourt (3-1) will entertain Rocktown next week in Daleville. Appomattox (0-4) will host Gretna at home in a Dogwood District tilt.          –  Cap’n Crunch
