Bulldog’s balanced attack leads to 28-7 win over Red Devils

Rustburg HS, Rustburg, VA – Homecoming night at the Devil’s Den turned out to be another Seminole win for LCA.  The night started off with Homecoming festivities by crowning the King and Queen.  Then it was time for some Seminole District football royalty with the Bulldogs and Red Devils squaring off on the field.

Rustburg kicked off to open the game, and LCA quickly established their running game. RB/S 8 Gideon Davidson carried thel load for Coach Rocco’s Bulldogs early, driving down the field and capping off the first drive with 9-yard run for game’s first score. The Senior sensation, and Clemson commit, followed that up with one more. This time finishing off the LCA drive from a yard out.  Davidson finished the night with 13 carries, 101 yards rushing.

The challenge with defending Liberty Christian is their balance. In the 2nd quarter LCA struck again but this time through the air.  They capped off this drive with a 47-yard touchdown pass from Freshman QB 9 Tyler Jackson (7/9,134,TD) to WR 11 Dalton Nesselrotte (2/63,TD) , for a 21-0 LCA lead at the half.

Rustburg had great drives but came up short a couple times leaving them scoreless in the first half.  RB/LB 24 Marshaun Rosser led the Red Devil’s on the ground with 21 carries for 121 yards on the night.  Rustburg came out strong in the 2nd half, getting on the board with a long pass from QB 8 Jaydon Herndon (11/26,99,TD) to WR/DB 4 Alex Dunn (4/86,TD). The diving catch in the end zone cut the lead to 14.

LCA bounced back in the 4th, though, adding one more score and finishing the night still undefeated.  LCA remains atop the Seminole District with a 5-0 mark, while Rustburg drops to 4-2. –  Allen Bailey
