“Really, really proud (of our guys) especially the Seniors… when you get to this time of year those guys are trying to get one more game.”– Floyd County Coach Tim Cromer
Beale Field, Floyd, VA– In one of the better first round playoff games Friday night, Floyd out punched Appomattox, 20-15, in a physical contest. The Buffaloes were led by RB 41 Joe March (21/113,TD), QB 9 Sam Phillips (17/127,TD), and RB/LB 34 Luke Schumann (8/53) on the night. But you can give game balls to that Floyd County line up front as they battled all night against a good Raider D-line.

It took only three plays for QB 3 Fitch to show off his speed on a QB-counter up the middle, 55 yards to make it 10-7. Radford added another FG from 27-yards out with 1:10 left in the half. Appomattox had a chance on a 35-yarder with seconds left but it sailed wide right. The second half started out as more of a defensive battle, but QB 9 Phillips carried the ball into the end zone from the three on a 5 play drive with :13 left in the quarter. Appomattox came back, but Floyd forced the Raiders to use 17 plays to get the Fitch TD from the two. That only 2 minutes on the clock. Floyd picked up a first down and was able to run out the clock. Floyd County Coach Tim Cromer was happy to advance. “Really, really proud (of our guys) especially the Seniors… when you get to this time of year those guys are trying to get one more game.” – Cap’n Crunch
