Northside blanks Cave Spring 27-0 after close first half at Bogle Field
Northside’s Coach Scott Fisher commented after the game, “….
they’re special kids, it’s always nice to get a shutout against a good football team… they are really playing hard right now”
Bogle Field, Roanoke, VA – The Northside Vikings, who looked to keep their momentum rolling after a big win last week against Pulaski County, traveled across town to Bogle Stadium to take on the Cave Spring Knights. The first half was a low scoring affair with Northside’s RB 14 Iziah Logan notching the only score on a 23 yard TD run.
You got the impression this might be the Vikings’ night when Logan lost control of the ball, it bounced on the ground, and then right back into his hands. He never broke stride on the way to the end zone putting Northside up 7-0 early in the 2nd quarter.
The Knights threatened in both quarters but a fumble ended a promising drive at the Northside thirteen yard line in the first quarter, and an errant snap thwarted a FG attempt after a 61 yard interception return by Knights DB 15 Timmy Cox to end the half.
The second half was all Northside with the offense getting their run game going led by QB 2 Casey Hall (19/119, TD) and RB 14 Iziah Logan (11/107, 2TD). QB Hall started the second half scoring with a 50 yard TD run and FB 50 L.J. Jackson scored from 1 yard out and RB 14 Logan tallied his second TD with a 5 yard run late in the 4th quarter.
The Vikings’ defense lead by senior LB Troy Collins held the Knights under 60 yards total offense and scoreless. Northside’s Coach Scott Fisher commented after the game, “they’re special kids, it’s always nice to get a shutout against a good football team. They are good kids, they are really playing hard right now” – The Machine
