Heritage defends turf in 42-14 win over Appomattox at City Stadium

City Stadium, Lynchburg, VA – Pioneer RB/LB 8 David Bradley (14/188,3TDs) got rolling early and never let up. On the second play of the game, the Senior took if off left tackle, cut back across field and outran the Raiders to the end zone in route to a 68-yard TD run. On Heritage’s next drive, Bradley made it 14-0 with a one yard blast following a big throw and catch from QB/DB 5 Ayden Slash (8/44,TD rush; 9/13,129,2TDs) to WR/DB 2 Taejuan Clark (2/42,TD rec) down to the one.
Speedy WR/DB 6 Kemondre Fleshman provided some spark with a 79-yard run to push the Poineers lead to 21-0 with 6:50 left in the half. And then Bradley followed that up with another 1-yard TD run a few minutes later. In-between that, the Heritage defense was holding Apppomattox to three first downs in 5 possessions.
Heritage Coach Brad Bradley saw good and bad for his Pioneers, “I thought we did some really good things and some really bad things. Hustle was there.” In the second half, Appomattox scored after an interception by Heritage was fumbled on the return.
On the next play Raider QB 5 Mon’Trevious Fitch hit WR/DB 13 Noah Christian (2TDs rec) from 12 yards out for the Raiders first points. QB 5 Slash added two more second half passing scores to WR/DB 3 Jayden Miller (3/52,TD) and WR/DB 1 Dominic Jones (4/30,TD) from 19 and 20 yards out respectively.

In the final seconds Fitch found Christian again for a 23-yard score to make the final 42-14. Bradley was glad to get the win. “I like the way our kids competed.
