CrunchTIME is back, August 20, 2022 central and southwest Virginia high school football. The show features our two new area high football coaches – Blacksburg’s Zack Leonard and Liberty-Bedfords Daryl Robertson. Coach Leonard went to high school at Patrick Henry-Rnk and comes to the Bruins from Christiansburg where he was an assistant for Alex Wilkens. Coach Robertson returns back to where he went to high school, Liberty-Bedford, and the Minutemen get him from William Fleming where he was an assistant for Jamar Lovelace. We also have quick interviews with LCA Coach Frank Rocco, Lord Botetourt Coach Jamie Harless and Jeff Woody, EC Glass. Harless’ Cavs and Woody’s Hilltoppers play each other in week 1. We also have interviews with Botetourt QB 13 Jakari Nicely and Glass QB 16 George White. The show features our Legendary HS football coaches with Liberty-Bedford Coach Chris Watts. Coach Watts just left the Minutemen coach football in college at Davidson. We wish him well. We also have a few comments from Hidden Valley Head Coach and newly named Athletic Director Scott Weaver as well as Giles Head Man Jeff Williams. The Titans and the Spartans started off fall preseason with a Thursday scrimmage at Bogle Field in Roanoke. Also on the show today is an interview with Hidden Valley Head Volleyball Coach Carla Ponn. Coach Ponn has 503 wins under her belt as her Titans head into the 2022 season. The show features our U.S. Cellular-Crunch state championship post game interview with Auburn Eagle’s Head Coach Terry Millirons on Saturday. We also have our second great segment with another state champion coach on the show. Cave Spring Competition Cheer Head Coach Jen Koll gets into how important strategy is in competition cheering. Last but not least we have a post game interview with Dylan Saunders, Cave Spring’s big man. This interview was from earlier this season after the Knight’s defeated the Abingdon Falcons in the playoffs. The interview was relevant then and relevant for each game after that leading to the state championship win. Welcome to CrunchTIME Radio (WPLY AM/FM), week 4 of high school football season. This week is our second 2-hour show, as we get into some college football in the second hour. High school football games started again on Thursday as well as  on the more traditional Friday, as well as Saturday, across the state. On today’s show our US Cellular-Crunch Hotline guest is Coach Kelly Lowe, Narrows Green Wave Head Coach. Coach Lowe talks about last year’s spring season and team and where some of 2020’s stars are now, Virginia Tech, Emory & Henry, etc…In the second half of the show we talk about Virginia Tech’s big win last night in Blacksburg at Lane Stadium over the # 10 ranked North Carolina Tarheels. We are talking real, live high school football games as the season opened Thursday and Friday across the state. On today’s show we have a first hour and a second hour US Cellular-Crunch Hotline guest is Coach Stephen Alexander, North Cross Head Coach. Coach Alexander talks about last year’s special team and where some of 2020’s stars are now…hint, UVA, Navy….In the second half of the show we have Heritage Coach Brad Bradley on the line. Coach Brad helps us kick off our new, second hour talking about where some of his graduates are now playing on Saturdays. He also talks about this year’s Pioneer club. Also on today’s show you’ll hear some pre recorded conversations with a couple hardworking coaches – Christiansburg’s Alex Wilkens, and Willam Byrd head coach, Brad Lutz.
