Today’s show is our first of 2023, the second half of the 2022-23 school year. Featured today is Northside basketball Coach Bill Pope’s 600th win this week. We talk with Cave Spring after his Cave Spring Knights won their Bank of Botetourt tournament over the holidays. We also talk about Northside’s basketball team and their winning the championship in their NIT tourney, also over the holidays. Patrick Henry got a big River Ridge District OT win over Cave Spring and Lord Botetourt continued it’s winning ways in a win over William Byrd. For boys basketball, this all led up to the Chance Harmon Memorial Tourney in Floyd this weekend. We tackle the first night of that tourney as well. As far as girls basketball goes, we touch on it with a few big games but plan to talk more about the state of area girls bball right now in the area in coming shows. Carroll County continues to lead the way. Pulaski County, William Fleming, Patrick Henry, Lord Botetourt, and Cave Spring are all playing well. We also revisit the Big Orange Wrestling Tournament in Vinton from December 17th to finish out our reporting. Our last show aired before the finals there were complete.
